Born and raised in Taiwan, Johan Ku started his career in graphic design at the age of 17. After winning Gen Art's Avant-Garde Prize in 2009, Ku has firmly established himself within the knitwear industry through his hand knitted, dynamic capsule collection "Emotional Sculpture".
Johan Ku Gold Label has shown in Tokyo Fashion week for 8 years, debuting in 2011. The debut collection has been picked by Women's Wear Daily Japan, as one of the top 7 brands of the season alongside Anrealage.
Ku's designs transcend borders and as a result, are loved by celebrities such as Shailene Woodley and Carrie Underwood, as well as earning a place in the London Textile and Fashion Museum exhibition ‘Knitwear: Chanel to Westwood'.
Johan Ku's is also a master of transforming the films he loves into fashion collections. His AW19 collection, names "Sean", is inspired by a French movie "120 BPM". It will be a collection with a positive attitude toward LGBT+ rights."
